What is not collected

Health topics are among the most sensitive things anyone searches for, so the honest default is to collect nothing. Corpus Atlas has:

• no user accounts, sign-in or profile of any kind
• no analytics or measurement service — no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no equivalent
• no advertising, ad network or affiliate tracking
• no tracking pixels, session recording or heatmaps
• no tracking, advertising or preference cookies — the site sets no cookies at all
• no contact form, and no database in which anything you do could be stored
• no third-party embeds that would load a request to another company as you read

Typefaces are compiled into the site at build time rather than requested from a font service while you browse, so reading a page does not make a request to a third party on your behalf.

The recently-viewed list

When you open a guide, the site records its name and address in your browser’s local storage under the key corpus.recentlyViewed, so the home page can show you where you have been. At most six entries are kept; opening a seventh discards the oldest.

• It is stored locally, not in a cookie, which means it is never attached to a request and never transmitted to the server.
• It stays on the device and browser you were using; it does not follow you between devices.
• You can delete it at any time by clearing site data for this domain in your browser settings, and the site continues to work normally without it.
• If local storage is unavailable — private browsing, or storage disabled — the feature silently does nothing rather than failing.

Calculators and the search box

Every calculator on the site runs entirely in your browser. Your height, weight, age, resting heart rate and anything else you type in are used to compute a result on your own device and are never transmitted to a server, never logged, and not retained after you leave the page.

Site search works the same way. The index is built when the site is deployed and shipped with the page, so what you type into the search box is matched locally. Corpus Atlas cannot see your search terms.

Server logs

Like any website, Corpus Atlas is served over the internet by a hosting provider, and that provider handles the network request your browser makes. Standard request logging at the infrastructure level is outside the site’s control and is used for delivery and security, not for building a profile of readers. Nothing in the application itself writes, reads or stores a record of your visit.

Links to other sites

Guides link out to primary sources such as Cochrane, NICE, the NHS, the WHO, PubMed and the NIH. Following one of those links takes you to an organisation with its own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover and Corpus Atlas does not control.

If this changes

This policy describes the site as it is, not as it might one day be. If Corpus Atlas ever adds a service that processes data about readers — analytics, a newsletter, saved accounts or anything similar — this page will be rewritten to describe it before that service goes live, rather than pre-authorising it with vague language today.
